ERASERHEAD

  • The Cuban Embassy 23 Saint Mary's Row Birmingham, England, B13 8HW United Kingdom (map)
So I just, uh... I just cut them up like regular chickens?
— Henry Spencer

Quick Story: When Stirchley Open Cinema and Screen B14 were getting back on their feet after the pandemic, volunteers Ben (B14) and Chris (SOC) got together for a posh coffee at Grace & James, to discuss a collaboration. The first film they both thought of was- of course- ERASERHEAD! Four years later, they still hadn't done it. All it took was for David Lynch to die, a bit of a cry, another coffee, and hey presto! a Screen B14 X SOC collab!

Eraserhead: First-time father Henry Spencer tries to survive his industrial environment, his angry girlfriend, and the unbearable screams of his newly born mutant child. David Lynch’s 1977 debut feature is both a lasting cult sensation and a work of extraordinary craft and beauty. With its mesmerizing black-and-white photography by Frederick Elmes and Herbert Cardwell, evocative sound design, and unforgettably enigmatic performance by Jack Nance, this visionary nocturnal odyssey continues to haunt American cinema like no other film.
