Join us for the Oscar-winning Poor Things, and witness the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. Yes, it’s quite weird.
If you missed this bonkers, over-the-top masterpiece at the cinema (and somehow managed to miss Screen B14’s screening of it too) then you’re in luck! It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Yorgos Lanthimos film- It’s basically an insane fairy tale. And, according to Stephanie Zacharek of Time Magazine, Emma Stone’s performance is “wonderful—vital, exploratory, almost lunar in its perfect oddness”. Then again, Mick LaSalle at the Sanfrancisco Chronicle called it “a 141-minute mistake” but he owns a grey cat called Sandrine, named after the French actress Sandrine Bonnaire, so you can tell he’s pretentious.
