This is a Special Event in our SwingScreen series of Film Screenings, especially for Black History Month. Join us to celebrate 1930 & 40s African-American film-making and the style of music introduced to the UK by black GIs at wartime dance halls such as Stirchley Ballroom, at Stirchley Baths.
Our evening will start at 7.00 with a selection of film shorts around the theme of Swing dancing, followed by a discussion of the history of the key stars in Keep Punching (1939) – and finishing with an (optional) short swing dance lesson introducing some of the 'Big Apple' moves.
The event is in collaboration with Stirchley Open Cinema. Concessions at £2.50 are available in person on the night or at Stirchley Baths SwingTrain classes on Mondays or Wednesdays.
